Three members of Edmonds Community College’s student newspaper staff were honored by the Pacific Northwest Association of Journalism Educators.
Zachery Bigelow won first place in feature reporting (“Seattle Prepares to Mobilize on Standing Rock”). Tara Pegasus won first place for headlines, third place for feature reporting (“Community Honey Creates a Buzz”), and third place for individual sweeps. And Liza Efimovskaya won second place for individual column or commentary (“A Strong Survivor’s Story”).

Everett Community College student journalists won 15 awards for their work with the college’s student media organization, The Clipper.
Monica Aguilera won first place for cover illustration for a Prince memorial issue. Katja Wahl took home five awards: a second place and four honorable mentions for photo packages on topics ranging from homelessness in north Everett to the Women’s March in Seattle. Abby Tutor and John Yeager won two awards each. Ricky Hester, Emma Kilgore, Brooke Robbinson and Joanne Wu also won awards.
In addition, EverettClipper.com was named the second best website and The Clipper staff earned a third-place nod for best use of multimedia.
