Everett and Edmonds Community College students are teaming up to build a submarine for the International Submarine Races in Maryland this summer.
Their 12-foot “Triton” submarine will be the only entry in the nation from community college students.
Everett and Edmonds students entered their submarine in the two-person, propeller-driven category. Everett Community College students are designing the submarine’s propulsion and steering systems while Edmonds Community College students are building the outer hull.

Concert tonight helps ailing family
A benefit concert and auction is planned for 7 tonight to help a Mukilteo family. Norm Black, his wife, Janis Warner-Black, and their children, Cecelia Black, 16, and Lester Black, 15, were injured in a head-on collision in February.
The event is planned at Olympic View Middle School, 2602 Mukilteo Speedway, in Mukilteo. Doors open at 6:30 tonight to view auction items.
Tickets are $5 at the door. A silent auction and raffle are planned during a variety show. Refreshments will be available.
Save the date to help food bank
A community dinner, a fundraiser for the Maltby Food Bank, is planned for 5 p.m. June 18.
It will be held in the gym above the Maltby Cafe, 8809 Maltby Road. Tickets are $20. For more information, call 360-668-4429.

The Everett Parks and Recreation Department offers hundreds of summer classes and programs.
