ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — A New Mexico city commission has agreed to allow a Canadian studio to search an old landfill where old, terrible Atari games are rumored to be buried.
The Alamogordo Daily News reports that Alamogordo commissioners will allow Fuel Industries to search the landfill for games. It has offices in Ontario, Canada, and Culver City, Calif.
One sought game, the E.T. video game, is thought by some gamers to be one of the worst video games of all time. The game has since developed a cult following.
The rumored Atari graveyard has long been a fascination of some gamers who consider the old games a part of video history.
Alamogordo Commissioner Jason Baldwin says he played the Extraterrestrial game and it was horrible.
