SULTAN — Sultan City Councilman Dale Doornek resigned from his position to pursue a master’s degree at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.
Doornek started a four-year term in January 2008.
“It has been wonderful opportunity to experience what and how the city government operates,” he wrote in a resignation letter to Mayor Carolyn Eslick. “Not to mention the public support that is received, as well as the critics.”
The council, in accordance with state law, plans to appoint a replacement.
Sultan residents interested in appointment to Sultan City Council Position No. 6, are required to submit an application and letter of interest to city clerk Laura Koenig by 4 p.m. April 10 at City Hall, 319 Main St.
Eligible applicants must be a registered voters in Sultan at the time of application and have resided within the Sultan city limits for at least one year.
The replacement will serve until the position is filled by election in November. Applications for appointment will be available on Monday at City Hall or by calling 360-793-2231.
