SULTAN — Firefighters in Sultan plan a series of safety-themed events next week as part of national Emergency Medical Services Week.
All of the events are free and scheduled as follows:
At 6 p.m. May 20, a meet-and-greet with fire district commissioners is planned at Fire Station 51 at Third Street and Alder Avenue. There will be light refreshments and station tours.
At 6:30 p.m. May 21, crews will provide free blood-pressure checks and information about life-saving techniques such as emergency resuscitation and recognizing stroke symptoms, at the Red Apple Market, 807 Stevens Ave.
At 7 p.m. May 22, crews at the fire station will provide information about life-saving techniques such as emergency resuscitation and recognizing stroke symptoms. They also will cover calling 911 and what to do to during an emergency.
From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. May 23, crews at the station will do medical care demonstrations on stuffed animals for kids to observe. Kids should bring in their favorite teddy bear to get checked out. Station tours are planned.
Throughout next week, people who live in the fire district also are encouraged to call the fire station at 360-793-1179 if they have questions about firefighters finding their home in an emergency. If they wish, crews will work with them to make their property easier to find and access.
