SULTAN — A rash of smash-and-grab car prowls struck 20 vehicles Sunday afternoon in Gold Bar and Sultan.
The Sultan Police Department posted on Facebook that 12 of the vehicle thefts happened at Sportsman Park where the Sultan River meets the Skykomish River. Another eight happened at trailheads east of Gold Bar, a popular hiking destination.
“The common theme was smash the windows and grab whatever was in plain view,” the department wrote on Facebook.
Anyone with information about the incidents was asked to call the department’s tip line at 425-388-3845.
Law enforcement agencies recommend securing vehicle doors, locks and windows, removing or hiding valuables, parking in well-lit areas, never leaving a spare key on the vehicle, calling 911 if you see someone looking into parked cars or checking door handles, and using an anti-theft device.
