During the month of March, Snohomish County employees raised money and collected food for the Volunteers of America Western Washington. This year the group raised over $49,600, setting a new record for themselves in the 19 years they’ve been holding the food and donation drive. Additionally, over 5,870 pounds of food was collected to be distributed through local food banks.
Departments compete by hosting bake sales, auctions, pet contests and challenges. In monetary donations, the Snohomish County Human Resources department took top honors, with the Treasurer’s Office a close second. The Department of Emergency Management led the way in food donations, with 2,356 pounds.
