EVERETT — A Seattle man was arrested Thursday, accused of stabbing a man twice during a drunken argument Christmas Day on a Community Transit bus.
Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies recognized the suspect, 24, from video surveillance footage taken on the bus, according to court documents.
The 30-year-old man who was stabbed was treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. A hospital spokesman said Friday the man no longer was at the hospital.
Police said the two men had apparently been drinking when they got on the bus about 6 p.m. Christmas Day near Highway 99 and the Mukilteo Speedway, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
The men started to argue, and the suspect allegedly stabbed the other man in the stomach and below the knee, documents said.
Deputies and a police dog searched the area for the suspect but were unable to find him Tuesday.
In addition to the bus driver, two other passengers were on the bus at the time of the attack, Hover said. No one else was injured.
Community Transit buses have safety equipment including a panic button and five cameras, spokesman Martin Munguia said.
Videotape from the bus was turned over to the sheriff’s office, he said. The entire stabbing incident was captured on film, according to court papers.
Detectives are still trying to determine a motive for the stabbing, Hover said.
The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree assault.
