EVERETT — A driver rammed a patrol car and led law enforcement on a high-speed chase on I-5 on New Year’s Eve before getting away, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
A sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a man around 5:50 p.m. Tuesday on 128th Street Southwest, south of Everett, when his vehicle turned up as stolen, said sheriff’s spokesperson Shari Ireton.
The driver reportedly fled, leading law enforcement on a pursuit on Airport Road and then onto I-5.
The Washington State Patrol joined the chase, but the pursuit was called off when the suspect’s vehicle began going the wrong way on the freeway.
Authorities found the car again, at the Silver Lake weigh station. The pursuit started back up, but was canceled once more when the man began driving erratically.
Deputies are still looking for the vehicle, which was last seen going westbound on 164th Street Southwest.
The deputy whose car was rammed did not suffer any notable injuries.
The suspect was reportedly driving a stolen dark green or blue BMW. The license plate number was BMF4406. Tips can be directed to 911.
Correction: This story previously misstated the gender of the suspect. The suspect is a man.
