EDMONDS — A break-in at an Edmonds home Wednesday morning ended with a suspect being sniffed out in a yard waste recycling bin.
Police say it happened this way:
A little after 10 a.m. a man who lives in the 9600 block of Pine Street called 911 to say he had surprised a burglar in his home. He said the two fought before the suspect fled. Edmonds police were on the scene within two minutes. They set up containment and called in a police dog team. More than an hour later, the dog led officers to a man who apparently was trying to hide in a yard waste bin.
No word on whether the bin was otherwise empty. Either way, the suspected crook, a convicted felon, was recycled. Police said they were taking the 26-year-old Mountlake Terrace man to Snohomish County Jail where he was expected to be booked for investigation of burglary.
