SPOKANE — A suspected drug dealer is in the Spokane County jail after fighting with a police dog during a traffic stop.
Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Thurman pulled over a car with Montana plates on I-90 about 2 a.m. Friday after the driver violated several traffic rules.
The sheriff’s office says passenger Jason Campbell, 32, refused numerous commands to show his hands and release his grip on a backpack as the officer approached.
When he continued to disobey commands, Thurman sent his police dog, Laslo, into the vehicle.
The sheriff’s office says Campbell punched Laslo and choked him by twisting his collar. Laslo was not injured.
The sheriff’s office says Campbell was arrested after the arrival of multiple deputies.
