BOISE, Idaho — Dozens of southwest Idaho schools including the University of Idaho’s Boise campus cancelled classes Friday as a winter storm moved through the region.
The National Weather Service says that early on Friday about 5.5 inches fell in southeast Boise, Kuna and Nampa. Meridian had just more than 6 inches.
The agency says snow is expected to stop falling by late morning.
Boise State University delayed the start of classes until noon. Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa opted to start at 10 a.m., and the College of Western Idaho is starting at 11:30 a.m.
Republic Services, which handles trash and recycling, is delaying service until road conditions improve.
And Saturday’s Rake Up Nampa event has been cancelled due to too much snow covering the leaves.
