OLYMPIA — Authorities have evacuated a Washington state government building after a packaged sickened several workers.
Sgt. Paul Erdahl said Tuesday that the odor led 10-15 people in the Health Care Authority complex to complain about headaches or tightness in the throat. A SWAT team is working to examine the package to determine whether it is dangerous.
The Health Care Authority oversees eight health care programs, including Medicaid. Gov. Chris Gregoire was supposed to be in the building for a meeting at 2 p.m., but it was canceled before she arrived due to the situation.
