Students can look forward to a shorter walk to the Edmonds Community College campus from their Community Transit bus with the opening of the Swift College Station on southbound Highway 99 at 204th Street SW in Lynnwood.
College Station is under construction and is expected to open in early 2016. The stop was part of the original plan for Swift, but was deferred until the city of Lynnwood made 204th a through street to the college and signalized the intersection earlier this year.
“We’re hopeful the new bus stop will allow our students, employees, and the community quicker and safer access to campus and we’re looking forward to its opening,” said Marisa Pierce, a college spokeswoman.
The front-doorstep stop is aimed at boosting ridership among college students. College incentives, including reduced passes for riding the bus, aim to cut down on the number of cars coming onto campus — a growing focus among local college campuses and transit agencies.
