It may cost a quarter more to swim at Everett’s public pool next year.
The parks department is again considering fee increases for Forest Park Swim Center. You can weigh in at a public forum at 6 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, at Spruce Hall at Forest Park, 802 E. Mukilteo Blvd.
The proposal would increase the youth admission fee to $3.25, the adult fee to $3.75 and the senior fee to $3.25. Find the complete list of proposed price changes here.
It’s not clear when a decision will be made, but it will likely happen soon. The parks director makes the decision, but not before a series of public meetings – tonight is the last — and a briefing in front of the city council.
The parks department has raised fees at the swim center every year since 2008, part of its plan to nudge prices up gradually rather than springing one big hike on users, said Lori Cummings, assistant director for Everett Parks &Recreation. Don’t expect prices to go up every year, she said.
Here are some comparisons of what other area pools charge for adult admission: Lake Stevens, $2.75; Marysville, $3.25; McCollum Park, $4; Lynnwood $4.50; and Mountlake Terrace, $4.75.
