TACOMA — The Pierce County prosecutor says a Tacoma man squeezed his 2-year-old daughter to death to punish his wife for separating.
Salvador Sanchez-Orozco was charged Thursday with first-degree murder for the death of the girl at his apartment.
The prosecutor says the 26-year-old was distraught about his wife’s decision to separate last month and was involuntarily committed for a day. He had his wife’s permission Wednesday to spend the day with his daughter.
He called 911 and told the operator he killed his daughter. He tried to choke himself to death with a dog leash, but deputies arrived in time to save him.
They found the girl dead.
