TACOMA — A Tacoma man who stabbed his wife to death and then attempted to cremate her remains in a fireplace pleaded guilty to murder.
The News Tribune of Tacoma reports the 28-year-old man, Jay Nathaniel Poe, was sentenced Thursday in Pierce County Superior Court to 31 years in prison.
Firefighters found Eva Poe’s remains last August when they responded to a fire that had spread to the attic of the home.
Poe also pleaded guilty to arson and improperly disposing of human remains.
His lawyer said Poe suffers from bipolar disorder which compromised his ability to control himself.
