TACOMA — A Tacoma police officer shot and injured a suspected car thief on Sunday.
The News Tribune reported that the man, who was shot in the hip, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool says officers approached the man at an intersection. She says he was “noncompliant” and one officer fired a single shot that struck the man in his hip.
Cool said she wasn’t sure whether the man was armed or unarmed at the time of the shooting. Tacoma police are conducting an internal investigation.
