TACOMA — Police say a north Tacoma man fired some rounds from his back porch, then shot and killed his next door neighbor before driving to a friend’s house and committing suicide.
The News Tribune reported that friends and neighbors grieved Friday for 55-year-old Frank Rossiter Jr., the father of a 12-year-old boy.
Detectives say they may never know why 51-year-old Michael Dillon fatally shot Rossiter on Thursday night. Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said the two “got into a disagreement” and gunfire followed.
Police initially blocked off the neighborhood to search for the killer, then received word that a man had killed himself in nearby Gig Harbor after telling friends he’d “done something bad” in Tacoma. That man was Dillon.
The newspaper reported that neither Rossiter’s son nor his roommate was home at the time of the shooting.
