Prosecutors Friday filed a first-degree murder charge against an Everett teen who police believe killed out of jealousy over a girl’s affection.
Dustin Maurice Jackson, 18, was being held on $1 million bail in Monday’s shooting death of Nick DeSimone, 19, a former soccer star from Mariner High School. Prosecutors have until Sept. 7 to bring the case to Snohomish County Superior Court, where felonies are handled.
Detectives believe DeSimone was shot in the head, probably while he slept, at his girlfriend’s house in Stanwood, according to court papers.
Jackson previously dated DeSimone’s 16-year-old girlfriend. Documents said Jackson was angry about her new relationship. Police suspect that the shooter walked in through an unlocked door and shot DeSimone as he slept on the floor after he had fallen asleep watching television, documents said.
The girl’s father discovered what happened when he tried to awaken DeSimone in the morning.
Jackson denied being at his ex-girlfriend’s house and said he didn’t know anything about DeSimone being injured.
