BELLINGHAM — Whatcom County prosecutors have charged a 16-year-old driver with vehicular homicide in the death of a toddler.
The Bellingham Herald reported that 2-year-old Anna Brulotte was crossing a street with her mother and two siblings in September. One car stopped to let them cross, bu
t investigators said Carli Alvarado rear-ended that car and forced it into Anna Brulotte and her mother, Melissa.
Anna was killed instantly, and her mother was thrown onto the hood but survived.
Investigators said Alvarado was speeding and not paying attention when the accident occurred.
Her attorney, Jeffrey Lustick, told the newspaper he declined to comment out of respect for the young victim and her family. Her arraignment is set for Feb. 2.
