YAKIMA — Two teenagers got a shock when they spotted a body in the Naches River where were fishing.
The Yakima County Sheriff’s office says the teens called authorities after they spotted a pair of boots coming out from under a log jam around noon Sunday.
The first deputies to arrive at the scene to the west of Naches confirmed that human remains had been found.
The sheriff’s office said in a statement that the mainly skeletal remains were turned over to the county coroner who will attempt to make an identification through detail records.
Yakima police note that they have three open investigations of missing persons that would fit for the area and time frame.
