MILL CREEK — A 16-year-old girl standing in the median as she attempted to cross 132nd Street SE Friday evening was hit twice by passing traffic.
The accident occurred about 8:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of 132nd Street near the Thomas Lake shopping center. There are no crosswalks there and the roadway is dark.
As she stood in the median, an eastbound pickup truck was turning left and knocked her off the median into westbound traffic. She was then hit again by a westbound car.
Mill Creek Police and Fire District 1 responded. She was taken by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
On Saturday afternoon she was listed in stable condition in the hospital’s critical care ward, said Joni Kirk, a Mill Creek spokeswoman. The teen was being treated for fractured bones.
