Teens arrested in robbery of cinema workers

STANWOOD — Police have arrested two teenage boys who allegedly robbed two Stanwood Cinemas employees on Nov. 7.

A Stanwood boy, 17, and an Arlington boy, 16, turned themselves in to Stanwood police Friday after police identified them as suspects, Stanwood Police Chief Thomas Davis said Tuesday.

The boys allegedly robbed the employees as they were leaving with the night’s receipts, police said. A handgun and a stun gun were shown during the robbery, police said. One of the victims fought back, and the boys ran.

The boys were booked into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery.

Man dies in accident: A man died after his car hit a tree along a rural road Tuesday afternoon, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said.

The high-speed accident occurred just after 3 p.m. in the 200 block of S. Lake Roesiger Road, according sheriff’s office spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen.

The man was trapped inside the burning car when passersby spotted the accident.

The man, whose identity was not known Tuesday night, died at the scene, Jorgensen said.

The accident happened on a fairly straight stretch of road. It was not icy at the time.

The sheriff’s collision unit continues to investigate the cause of the crash.

Everett

Memorial service for firefighter: A memorial service will be Friday for a longtime Everett firefighter who died Friday after battling cancer for five months.

Capt. Tim Ross, 49, served the Everett Fire Department for 25 years. He was a firefighter, paramedic and was later promoted to captain.

"Tim was our brother, and we will miss him greatly," Fire Chief Murray Gordon said. "He was not only a good friend and family man, but he was a great firefighter."

The service will be at 11 a.m. at New Life Center Foursquare Church, 6830 Highland Drive, Everett. Starting at 10:30 a.m. a 36-member band from the Vancouver Fire Department will begin a march from Fire Station No. 5 at the corner of Madison and Colby avenues to the church, two blocks away.

Donations may be made in Ross’ name to the Medic 1 Foundation, 2811 Oakes Ave., Everett, WA 98201 or to the Snohomish County Critical Incident Stress Management Team, 3000 Rockefeller Ave. M/S 103, Everett, WA 98201.

Seattle

Arlington women arrested in prostitution ring: The King County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an Arlington woman and her mother in connection with a major prostitution ring whose clients included prominent Seattle-area businessmen.

The mother, 49, and daughter, 31, used the Internet to advertise their escort service, the Garden of Eden, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Web site included pictures, prices and when a woman was available for an appointment. The operators brought in women from Las Vegas, New York and Los Angeles.

Most of the prostitution activity was done in rented high-end motels and apartments in the Seattle area, according to the sheriff’s office. Clients would visit the women in Bellevue, Seattle, Newcastle and Factoria.

None of the activities occurred in Snohomish County, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. John Urquhart said.

Detectives found client lists containing several hundred names and phone numbers.

Included on those lists were men working for major corporations headquartered in Seattle, as well as owners and managers of other businesses in the area, according to the sheriff’s office.

The suspects have not been charged. Running a prostitution ring is a felony.
