BURLINGTON — The Skagit County sheriff’s office says the body of a 16-year-old Sedro-Woolley boy has been recovered from a gravel pit pond north of Burlington.
The Skagit Valley Herald reported that the body was found Thursday afternoon.
The boy was not immediately identified.
Deputies responded late Wednesday afternoon after a call from three other teens who had been swimming in the pond with the boy. Sgt. Chris Kading said the other teens told officers their friend started to struggle and disappeared under the water.
Deputies and fire department crews began an immediate search.
