GRANITE FALLS — A 16-year-old girl was in serious condition and a 16-year-old boy was in critical condition in a Seattle hospital Sunday night after suffering injuries on Saturday when the car they were in crashed into a tree.
The teen-agers were airlifted Saturday to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the accident northwest of the city in the 15500 block of 112th Street NE about 2:40 p.m. Saturday, said Jan Jorgensen, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
The girl, who was driving the car, suffered numerous cuts and broken bones including a broken pelvis. The sheriff’s office reported that the girl did not have a driver’s license or learner’s permit.
The boy, who was riding in the front passenger seat, suffered numerous broken bones in his face.
A third teen, a 17-year-old girl who was sitting in the back seat, suffered minor injuries and was treated at Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus.
"They’re lucky to be alive," Jorgensen said.
