SEATTLE — Tesoro Corp.’s Anacortes refinery, where an April explosion and fire killed seven people, will remain closed at least through September.
Company spokesman Lynn Westfall said today that investigators haven’t yet found the cause of the accident and only recently removed damaged equipment for testing. He says the Texas-based company now has to clean up the area, install new parts and repair existing equipment.
The April 2 accident occurred at a part of the refinery where highly flammable naphtha is processed. Westfall says other parts of the refinery can function, but it can’t make finished products without the naphtha unit.
