SNOHOMISH – Police are searching for two men who stole a donation jar set out to raise money for a Snohomish man who was paralyzed following a diving accident.
The jar was taken sometime late Friday night from a Texaco gas station on Highway 9 north of Snohomish, police Sgt. Rick Johnson said.
A surveillance camera videotaped the theft, and police are hoping to use the footage to track down the suspects.
The donation jar was to help Josh Campbell buy a van to accommodate his wheelchair.
Campbell, 22, was paralyzed from the chest down after he dove into Moses Lake and hit a sand bar on Memorial Day weekend.
The jar contained about $100.
“It’s harsh that someone would do something like this,” Johnson said.
A fund for Campbell has been set up at Washington Mutual Bank.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Snohomish police at 360-568-0888.
