TOLEDO — Rumors about threats led the school district in Toledo to close all three schools Friday in the Lewis County town — elementary, middle and high school.
Superintendent Sharon Bower said the district is helping police track down rumors circulating on Facebook and through texting.
They arose after three high school boys went to the middle school Thursday for a fight. Bower says it was quickly broken up. But rumors flying through social media concerned parents, so classes were canceled Friday. Classes will resume on Monday.
Police said three students arrested after the fight were booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center on assault and criminal conspiracy charges.
The three schools have a total of about 855 students.
