Three more people charged in Everett purse snatching

EVERETT — Three more people have been charged in connection with a purse snatching in south Everett last month.

Two Everett brothers, Anatoliy and Vitaliy Karnaukhov, have been charged with first-degree theft for the Nov. 1 incident outside a woman’s home. Kaylyn Amison has been charged with possession of stolen property.

The three defendants and another man, David Lavrentyer, are accused of targeting a 69-year-old woman at a Safeway on Evergreen Way with plans to take her purse.

Prosecutors allege the four followed the woman home and Lavrentyer grabbed her purse as she was leaving her vehicle. The woman quickly canceled her credit card.

Police caught up with the four after they reportedly tried to use the stolen credit card at a Mukilteo gas station.

Prosecutors charged the case in a way that leaves the door open for them to recommend an exceptional sentence beyond the maximum based on the victim being particularly vulnerable.

Lavrentyer has pleaded not guilty to the charge. The other defendants are scheduled later this month to be arraigned on their charges.
