MONROE — Firefighters rescued three men who beached their boat on a sandbar in the Skykomish River on Sunday.
One of the men called 911 to report that they were stranded on an island on the river.
Monroe firefighters launched a boat and quickly located the men on the Skykomish River near the Highway 522 bridge, said Kevin Brice, acting fire captain for Fire District 3.
The men were not injured, just cold and wet.
Firefighters briefly tried to help the men dislodge the boat but the vessel remained beached. Firefighters brought the men to shore.
It’ll be up to the men to find a way to retrieve their boat.
