EVERETT — Tuberculosis and immunization clinics run by the Snohomish Health District will see fewer services and increased fees beginning January.
Public clinics in Everett and Lynnwood will have their hours cut by half — just one step the public health agency is taking to close a $4.4 million budget gap.
A standard test taken to determine whether a person has tuberculosis will be given at the health district’s Everett headquarters by appointment for $49.
All other tuberculosis services will be offered on weekdays.
A skin test ordered as a result of an investigation initiated by the TB Control Program will still be offered at no cost.
TB tests will still be given at the district’s Lynnwood Immunization Clinic by appointment.
No other TB services will be available in Lynnwood starting in January.
In the meantime, the Everett Immunization Clinic, 3020 Rucker Ave, Suite 108, is cutting its service to three days per week next year.
Appointments at the clinic will be scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The Lynnwood Immunization Clinic, 6101 200th St. SW, Suite 100, will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Other cuts include:
Discontinuing its West Nile virus education and surveillance programs.
Eliminating technical assistance to 315 small public water systems in the county, those with 12 or fewer connections.
Eliminating its Healthy Communities program, which helps set up new programs to encourage children and adults to be more active to help reduce diseases such as high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes.
Cuts to its tobacco education programs for teens.
Reductions to a program that provides referrals to low-income families for help with food, housing and health care.
Reductions to an oral health program for kids with approximately 473 fewer children expected to get cavity preventing treatments.
