GOLD BAR — A train car carrying cargo including hazardous materials derailed Monday afternoon.
A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train was hauling containers from Chicago to Seattle along the east end of Gold Bar about 3 p.m. when one flat car came off the tracks, railroad spokesman Gus Melonas said.
Specialists were investigating why the car derailed.
It had six containers, including one with hazardous materials such as paint and bug spray, Melonas said. No cargo was spilled and nobody was hurt. The car was upright.
“We expect to have the wheels back on the tracks and inspected by midnight,” Melonas said.
