TACOMA — One train has derailed at the Port of Tacoma after hitting an idle BNSF train that was hauling mixed freight containers into the port.
BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas says the collision happened at about 7:20 a.m. Thursday.
A Tacoma Rail train ran into an idle locomotive, and the Tacoma Rail train’s locomotive and one car derailed.
Melonas says no injuries were reported and there’s no environmental threat. There was some damage to the locomotive.
