Community Transit has a new budget for 2005 that is up 5.5 percent over this year’s budget.
The CT board of directors adopted the $79.1 million budget on Thursday. The additional money will pay for expanding service and new construction.
The new budget calls for adding 10,000 hours of disabled and regular bus service. Most of the changes are due to the planned closure of the downtown Seattle transit tunnel next fall.
The new budget also calls for 25 new bus shelters. There is also money to finish design work on a Mountlake Terrace park-and-ride garage, and for a feasibility study on a Mukilteo park-and-ride.
