As a regular reader of the opinion page in the Edmonds Enterprise, I have grown tired of the sophomoric and consistently right-wing-slanted editorial cartoons. This last one pictures Obama on a television in front of school children saying, “Your indoctrination is very important to me.”
Please. For the bazillionth time, it wasn’t a policy speech, and the content was released prior to the address. And, for the record, both Bushes and Reagan addressed school kids (without the baseless protests from the opposition party that we have witnessed recently), and Reagan even discussed policy in his address, explaining how his tax cuts would help the economy. Talk about a double-standard.
You need to find an editorial cartoonist that actually has a valid point to make, and who can make it intelligently and without childish overtones. A little balance in that space would be good, too, instead of it always coming from the right. If you can’t make the space worth looking at, get rid of the cartoon and use the space for more letters.
