EVERETT — Traffic along I-5 south of Everett backed up for five miles Monday afternoon after a truck caught fire along the northbound lanes.
Emergency crews were called just before 1 p.m. to northbound I-5 south of 128th Street SW, where fire destroyed the cab of a semi truck stopped on the right shoulder, Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said. Nobody was hurt.
The Washington State Patrol unloaded more than 200 gallons of diesel from the fuel tanks, Hynes said. A large column of black smoke could be seen rising above I-5.
State transportation crews reopened all lanes shortly after 3 p.m.
