U.S. 2 is closed. I-90 is closed. I-84 out of Portland is closed. White Pass is the only major east-west corridor open in the state.
Where is a semi-truck that’s heading to Eastern Washington supposed to go?
Washington State Patrol Trooper Kirk Rudeen advises all drivers, but particularly truck drivers, to say away from the mountain passes until they know they’re going to open.
He said trucks are stacking up on U.S. 2. Many of them are forced to just park in the travel lanes because there’s no place to turn a 60-foot rig around.
Trucks haven’t been filling the streets of Sultan, Gold Bar and Index yet, but that could be coming if the road stays closed for too long.
The good thing is that U.S. 2 is supposed to open later this afternoon, according to state officials.
