MIDDLETON, Idaho — Idaho officials are trying to find out who illegally killed a trumpeter swan on the Boise River in southwest Idaho east of Middleton.
Citizens Against Poaching is also offering a reward for information in the case.
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game says the swan was likely killed on Friday.
It was discovered that day just upstream from the Lansing Lane Sportsman’s Access. A waterfowl hunter discovered the swan and alerted authorities.
There is no hunting season in Idaho for trumpeter swans.
The swans can weigh more than 20 pounds and have a wingspan up to 8 feet.
