The Tulalip Tribes will celebrate the public grand opening of their new plaza and the Northwest’s “newest and most intimate amphitheatre” on Friday .
But the tribes plan a private grand opening today .
Located at Quil Ceda Village between the Tulalip Casino and Seattle Premium Outlets, the amphitheatre in the parklike setting seats 2,300 people.
Friday’s public opening will feature country superstar Trisha Yearwood as part of her new concert tour kickoff. She’ll also perform Saturday.
But tribal members and their guests will enjoy a separate grand opening tonight with free performances featuring The Supremes starring Mary Wilson, and The Temptations featuring Dennis Edwards, singing their classic hits. The tribal grand opening will begin with a ceremony in the afternoon and music about 6 p.m.
The Bellevue architectural firm of Ruhl-Parr &Associates designed the new facility, which was built by Colville Tribal Services. It includes free parking and a beer garden.
VIP parking and wireless Internet service are available for special guests.
Tickets for Yearwood’s concert are available online at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 206-628-0888 and at the Tulalip Casino.
