KINGSTON — A Tulalip man who died in a diving accident Saturday morning was identified.
Solomon G. Spencer, 35, was on a boat outside Point Jefferson, south of Kingston, training for the upcoming shellfish harvest season, according to people on the boat with him.
Around 10 a.m., he got entangled in gear underwater and lost his mask. It took five minutes for his companions to get him to the surface.
North Kitsap Fire & Rescue responded within 11 minutes. Emergency personnel performed CPR and applied first aid, but were unable to revive him.
The Kitsap County Coroner’s Office called his death an accident.
Spencer worked in construction and “loved being on the water as a diver, crabber and fisherman with his family and friends,” according to an obituary in The Daily Herald.
