LAKE STEVENS — Two Lake Stevens brothers were honored last month for helping save their grandmother’s life.
James Day, 9, and Justin Day, 6, were with their grandmother in Lake Stevens on Jan. 20 when she suddenly needed urgent medical attention.
They ran to a neighbor’s house and called 911.
Their actions likely saved their grandmother’s life, said Alison Caton, a public educator for Snohomish County Fire District 8 in Lake Stevens.
The district wanted to honor the boys for their bravery and quick-thinking, she said.
On Jan. 25, Lake Stevens fire crews visited the boys’ school, Mt. Pilchuck Elementary.
Along for the trip were Fire Chief Dave Lingenfelter and firefighters and paramedics including Keith Terry, Kurt Middleton, Jerry Aamold, Norm Peterson and Mike Tanberg.
They presented the brothers with a “Little Heroes” certificate in front of their classes and brought donuts for everyone to share, Caton said.
