MARYSVILLE — An adult and child heard a smoke alarm and escaped from their burning home early Wednesday morning.
Firefighters needed about 30 minutes to extinguish the fire in the 6400 block of 71 Street NE. They arrived about 1:20 a.m.
The occupants did not have rental insurance. No firefighter injuries were reported, Marysville fire marshal Tom Maloney said.
The estimated loss from the fire was more than $200,000.
The family is being assisted by the Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
More than 20 firefighters battled the blaze with mutual aid provided by fire districts from Getchell and Silvana.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. It appears to be accidental, Maloney said.
