FORKS — Rescuers spent Saturday searching Olympic National Park’s Bogachiel Valley but found no sign of two young men who failed to return from a three-day hike as planned.
John Pontrello, 17, and Jonathan Parks, 20, both of Everett, were reported missing by their families on Friday, two days after they were due back. About two dozen people, including dog teams and a helicopter crew, began looking for them Saturday morning.
Most of the searchers camped Saturday night and were to resume looking this morning, when they were to be joined by more than two dozen more searchers.
Pontrello and Parks were last seen Monday morning at the Bogachiel trailhead about five miles south of Forks. The two were described as in good health but having limited backcountry skills.

Everett: Motor home burns on highway
A 1971 motor home became fully engulfed in flames at about noon Saturday in the left-turn lane of Highway 526 at Everett Mall Way.
The driver, an Everett man, apparently ran out of gas and was trying to switch tanks when he poured gas down the carburetor and it backfired, Everett Fire Battalion Chief Ed Oas said.
"Unfortunately, the motor home is largely built of fiberglass, which burns real well," Oas said.
Three fire engines responded to the scene and put the fire out within about 10 minutes. The driver burned his hand and was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus.
"It’s a total loss for the motor home," Oas said. The driver lost a family heirloom in the fire , a 1929 trumpet, he said.
