ENTIAT — Officials said a wildfire burning grass and brush between Entiat and Chelan has increased from 250 to nearly 600 acres.
Two helicopters and an air tanker have been requested to aid the now 160-strong fire crew on the ground.
The fire began Thursday and one home in the Navarre Coulee was ordered to evacuate. On Saturday, official said another 13 homes and cabins have been put on evacuation notice, meaning the residents must be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice.
The fire grew Saturday as hot temperatures and low humidity arrived in the region. Wind is not a factor.
