STANWOOD — Two men were injured and trapped in a car about 7:20 p.m. Sunday when their vehicle left Happy Hollow Road and smashed into a tree.
The injured men were taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Their names, ages and conditions were not immediately known.
Fire District 14 crews responded and used a hydraulic tool to pry open the smashed vehicle and remove the victims, said Capt. Christian Davis. They were stabilized and taken by medic unit to a landing area set up at nearby Warm Beach Camp.
Davis said two medical helicopters from Airlift Northwest came from Paine Field and Boeing Field, and landed at Warm Beach in a heavy rainstorm.
The accident happened on a curve in the 6800 block of the road, just east of Marine Drive.
Marysville and Silvana’s Fire District 19 fire crews assisted Davis’ firefighters. Altogether, about 20 firefighters responded.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office was investigating the cause of the accident.
