Two men shot in Edmonds, witnesses say

EDMONDS – Patrons at Scott’s Bar &Grill were told to stay inside late Wednesday while police pursued suspects in connection with the shooting of two men, witnesses said late Wednesday.

The shooting occurred about 9:15 p.m. in the apartment complex across from Scott’s. The bar was relatively full and patrons remained calm, though they moved away from the windows, manager Dana Ross said.

“They told us to come back inside, that there was a shooting and the person was still on the loose,” Ross said of the police.

Everett: Man arrested after second man hurt

Police arrested an Everett man Wednesday following a morning fight that left one man in critical condition. Police found the unconscious victim, 42, at 2:22 a.m. at the corner of Hewitt Avenue and Broadway. Everett paramedics treated the victim, who was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus. Witnesses told officers there had been a fight. Police found the suspect, 29, behind a business on Hewitt Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on investigation of first-degree assault. Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call the Everett Police Department tip line at 425-257-8450.

Man injured in Aug. 18 motorcycle crash dies

An Everett motorcyclist injured in an Aug. 18 crash has died, police said. Michael Mayther, 23, of Everett, died Tuesday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. He did not regain consciousness after the accident, police said. The crash happened at the intersection of Highway 527 and S. Broadway when the southbound motorcyclist turned left and collided with a northbound pickup, Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant said. The truck driver, 43, was not injured.

Officers shoot pit bull after it attacks them

Police shot and killed a pit bull dog that attacked officers during a traffic stop Tuesday, Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant said. The dog jumped out of the car after the driver began struggling with officers trying to arrest him on a warrant, he said. Officers shot the dog after it lunged at them twice, nearly biting one officer. The driver, 25, of Everett, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on a warrant for domestic violence. His passenger, a 26-year-old Everett woman, was booked into the jail on a felony drug warrant.

Public welcome at fire station groundbreaking

The public is invited to the groundbreaking of the Hilton Lake Fire Station for Snohomish County Fire District 1. The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. today at the corner of 108th Street SE and 35th Avenue SE. Construction has started on the new station, which will house an engine and paramedic vehicle. It will include a community meeting room that can hold up to 25 people.

Camano Island: Fire crews save girl after fall

Firefighters rescued a 15-year-old girl Wednesday who slid partway down a cliff at Camano Island State Park. The embankment apparently gave way after the girl went off the main trail around 3 p.m. Wednesday, Island County Fire District 1 Commissioner Steve Lich said. She managed to leap onto a rock about 30 feet down the cliff, he said. Island County firefighters responded after her mother went for help. The girl, who is from Snohomish County, was not injured.
