MUKILTEO — A crowded Mukilteo Saint Patrick’s Day party turned into a melee when someone pulled a knife and two people were rushed to the hospital with stab wounds.
Police believe a minor disagreement at the party led to the violence, Mukilteo police Cmdr. Chuck Macklin said.
“We don’t know if it was over music selection or something else,” he said.
No arrests had been made by Wednesday afternoon. Detectives were searching for a man they believe may be responsible for the assault. No description of the suspect was released.
Just after 12 a.m. Wednesday, someone called 911 and asked for officers to come to a home in the 1000 block of Goat Trail Loop Road, Macklin said. A neighbor called to complain about noise.
“The problem was that as we were going in, everyone was trying to leave,” he said.
Two men had been stabbed, one in the chest, another in the hand. Both men were taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening. The man with the chest wound was admitted for treatment.
A broken knife was found in the house. Detectives believe the blade was used in the assault, Macklin said. It wasn’t clear how the knife broke.
Police do not believe that the victims or suspect have gang affiliations.
