Two men tied up during robbery

EDMONDS – Police are investigating reports that two armed intruders wearing Halloween masks broke into a house and tied up two men early Friday.

Four men in their 20s reported that at about 2:30 a.m. the suspects entered through an unlocked, lower-level door in the 15700 block of 75th Place W.

The masked men, one armed with a rifle and the other with a handgun, tied up two of the residents, while a third slept through the break-in, Edmonds Sgt. Don Anderson said. It was unclear why the last roommate wasn’t tied up.

The intruders made off with a toolbox and some audio equipment, police said.

The men reported the incident just before 1 p.m.

“There was a delay because (the residents) didn’t think anything was stolen initially,” Anderson said. “And they feared (the intruders) might come back.”

Several details remain under investigation, including some discrepancies in the men’s statements.

The break-in didn’t appear to be random, Anderson said.

“I suspect the neighbors have nothing to worry about,” he said. “I suspect it has more to do with the particular occupants.”

Neighbors said there have been other break-ins and thefts in the area recently.

“We’ve had some weird things happening around here recently,” said Chris Hammond, who lives down the street from where police cars had surrounded the older brick home.

A neighbor’s truck with an all-terrain vehicle in the back was recently stolen, Hammond said.

Friday’s incident doesn’t appear to be connected to a home invasion robbery that happened a couple miles away last year.

In May, two masked men broke into a house in the 7000 block of 150th Place SW and robbed an elderly couple. No one has been arrested in that case
