A former youth basketball coach was back behind bars after two more girls reported that he sexually assaulted them.
The Brier man, 44, also was found in possession of child pornography, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The man turned himself in to sheriff’s detectives Friday afternoon — just a week after he was arrested on suspicion of raping two young girls at his home four or five years ago.
Since his arrest, two other girls, ages 10 and 14, reported they were sexually molested by the man, according to the sheriff’s office.
The 14-year-old girl told police the assault happened five years ago, when she was part of a basketball team the man coached for the Alderwood Boys and Girls Club. She quit the team after the incident, police said.
The younger girl told detectives she was assaulted when she was 8. She was not a player on his team.
Detectives also found 500 pictures of child pornography on a computer disk, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said. She would not say how detectives found the disk.
Police began investigating the man about a month ago when two girls told a mutual friend that the man raped them several years ago at his house. The victims were not connected to his coaching activities.
The man coached for the Boys and Girls Club several years ago. He also coached girls’ basketball for Lynnwood Tiger Youth Sports for two years. He resigned from that position about two weeks ago, director Gene Melang said.
Both youth organizations said the man passed a background check before he was allowed to coach.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate and encourages anyone with information to call its tip line at 425-388-3845.
